Robert Byrne said, “The purpose of life is a life of purpose. The height of your accomplishments will equal the depth of your convictions.”
It was a long time ago, but I remember it well. My dad and I climbed into a boat wearing our swimsuits. We rode out to the deep waters of Strawberry Lake. He then encouraged me to jump in. I’m not sure that is the best way to learn how to swim, but it worked for me!
That memory reminds me of a comment I heard not long ago: “Many people never leave their driveway because they are waiting for all the lights to turn green.” Life Beyond Ordinary is a leap of faith, a step into the unknown. So, where are you on the significance journey?
It is great when worship services are filled with those who regularly attend church. Yet, many are spiritual consumers. While that is a “good thing,” it is not the “whole thing.” Jesus didn’t say, “Be disciples.” His focus was on making disciples who make disciples. Christianity is not a spectator sport. It is an eternal movement. And that takes a leap of faith.
A leap of faith, by definition, is an uncomfortable journey. It requires trust in God. You leave your comfort zone. It’s like you and Jesus on the edge of a cliff. Jesus says, “Go ahead, jump. I’ll catch you.” And, by faith, you leave your comfort zone of relying on yourself.
Have you jumped off the cliff for Jesus? Do you know your spiritual gifts? Have you prayed and asked God to direct you to your unique calling—whether it be part-time or full-time? The Christian faith moves as a movement when those who trust God produce eternal fruit.
